Stephen Pax Leonard, "Annals of Solitude"

Synopsis: This philosophical travelogue is a record of the joys (and frustrations) of disconnecting from our complicated, modern existence and living, at a time of climate upheaval, a simple life as close to nature as possible. Eager to know what life might be like if we choose another path, Leonard lived for a year in a cabin in the most remote Arctic settlement he could find and discovered ho...

Engaging the Doctrine of Marriage | Matthew Levering

This book is the next volume in Levering’s Engaging Doctrine series. The prior volume of the series examined the doctrine of creation. The present volume examines the purpose of creation: the marriage of God and humans. God created the cosmos for the purpose of the marriage of God and his people-and through his people, the marriage of God and the entire creation. Given that the central meaning ...

God and Human Wholeness: Perfection in Biblical and Theological Tradition | Kent L. Yinger
Переглядів 8854 роки тому
The language of perfection crops up regularly in the Bible, from Noah (“a just man and perfect in his generations,” KJV) to Jesus (“be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect,” NRSV). Is flawless behavior what God expects, the only standard of righteousness that can satisfy him? Jewish tradition has long questioned this Christian assumption. Since Sanders and the New Perspective ...
What Theology Can Learn From Radiohead | Robert Cady Saler
Переглядів 2224 роки тому
Radiohead is simultaneously one of the most experimental and most successful rock bands on the planet. While their lyrics rarely reference religion, in this book Robert Saler argues that the discipline of Christian theology has a great deal to learn from the band when it comes to unflinching engagement with the world’s brokenness and its longing for redemption. Market dynamics, the influence of...
The Beautiful Letdown: An Addict's Theology of Addiction | David Tremaine
Переглядів 5394 роки тому
One of the most widely accepted ways of describing an addiction is as a disease, but do we realize what we are saying when we describe it that way? Our current language and approach to addiction is not only lacking in-depth but is keeping us blind to an amazing way that God is working in each and every one of us. What if our addictions are not broken parts of us that we have to get rid of, but ...

The Gospel of Inclusion | Brandan J. Robertson

One of the most fiercely debated topics in modern Christianity centers on the inclusion of sexual and gender minorities into the full life of the church. Dozens of scholars have stepped forward, seeking to make a compelling case for LGBT inclusion based on their contextualized reading of the six traditional passages that refer to homosexuality in Scripture. But these arguments alone fall short ...

Peter is the apostle for the whole church and the whole church resonates with his theolo...

I've come across typo's/mistakes in some books I've read. Mostly books that aren't too heard of but I came across a couple mistakes in Dune Messiah which is a very well known novel (and been around for a very long time). It was different spelling of the word "colour". In some sections it spelled it the UK way, other pages it was the US way. If I can spot these mistakes you'd think an editor would be able to.

It's sad to hear people try to be intellectual but fail miserably! This political correctness BS really gets too me! The real honest truth is this: the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Books of Abraham and Moses, an official statement from the first presidency, Joseph Smith, as well has so many prophets and apostles all state the same thing, and that is that many were cursed with dark skin because of sin! This is official church doctrine! Some ignorant so called educated in the church who don't know beans about church history or church doctrine who are lifted up in pride because of their little learning think that their wisdom and sense of political correctness Trump's what God has revealed in scripture and to his prophets and apostles, and they have come up with statements as if what they said was church doctrine, but it was not, is not, and never will be!!! There would have been no need for a revelation to end the ban if there were no ban in the first place!! Dumb!!!

Thanks a million!! Also Messianics have to accept more the viability of Messianic Jews who accept some traditions and halajot without "satanizing" it all... basically Messianism should be more like Gentile Christianity and Messianic Judaism like Judaism for Jews... ummm too much nonsence still and uneducated indoctrinating about pronunciations and so on... hope people educated like you chip in to this kind of restoration.

Mass immigration has been great for me. It saved many thousands from my clan and actually prevented my clan from completely disappearing altogether. Since they didn't disappear completely after being tortured, which is what happened to 90% of my clan, I am now here. Many pastors point to some possible event in the future which may occur because of some person who migrated, material or financial hurt is what they really mean and have in their heart although they will often mention other things to scare people. That is serving two masters. Pastors and politicians want to follow man's laws and also follow God's law, while knowing that those of man are clearly in direct conflict with God's law? What are the highest and most important rules to live by? It's right there in The New Testament. Everything should be tested using The Two Highest Rules as told to us by Jesus Christ Saviour and Messiah. Pastors and politicians harp on their interpretation of lesser rules while knowing that doing so breaks The Highest Two. This is the definition of neither hot nor cold. For America, where my clan arrived around the time of the statue of liberty in NY, it's clear people are still serving two masters as much or even more than before. We have a 100% evil system of immigration designed to send money and power to criminals, abuse and semi-slave undocumented workers, and turn a beautiful desert into an ecological disaster zone and a cemetery - which is what has happened and continues. I think the only way to reverse that and get America back to God would be to open the border - no other option will work because only options based on complete Love are sustainable.

Its personal responsibility, not congregational responsibility. Lies will be spread every day by sinful people (living and dead) inside and outside Christian circles. There are heretics, and saints, but you, yourself, are who God deals with - please stop blaming a system (like Govt, Churches, religions) and take personal responsibility! Maybe you cannot change the world, but when you change your mind you really are changing the world (think about what I said there--changing your mind changes the world) Its true; Life sucks mostly; but You must do the work and stop the blame game! You will surprise yourself when kindness rules your intentions, and you don't go looking for blame - remember: "forgiveness rules" in the Christian world!

Wonderful people! Racism is a system and an entity and must be dealt with at that level. The problem is the white people who I know and love, don't understand there is no room for personal feelings or emotions, so if my white friends are upset for what needs to be done then so be it! The small % who run this world know that if we the people ever get together, we will change things but, in the meantime, I will continue to speak words that empower my black brothers and sisters. I pray my white friends and relatives understand, but I’m ok if they don’t! Black People taught Caucasian people how to wash themselves properly and keep themselves clean, but they haven't learnt to accept what they are and be at peace with themselves. They are down-syndrome, and they want to be like black people. Their misbehaviour is not racism. It was fear and lack of understanding, which became envy, malice, and pride. Envy and pride caused the devil to think he could fight God and win. The police are just like their father the devil they are professional liars, and they are Bastards! God has disowned them. Homosexuality is illegal in Africa and the Caribbean these nasty people brought the viruses and germs, and they still have the audacity to continue to fight against the pure in heart. Father forgive them, for they know not what they do! We must get this information into schools LGBT are targeting children using the law. The government backed by the police are supporting them. We must use Jesus. He is Law www.hush-hushtruth.com (See Blogs)

I am not the biggest fan of Trump, but the media lied about him constantly including the few things he did that were positive. He swayed several governments to end their criminal punishment for gay people. And he made the historically black colleges financially solvent with federal funds to their foundation. Trump played a character that appealed to the people you mentioned, but his actions were different than what was reported. Do you think legalizing homosexuality in foreign countries were done to impress his base? Hardly. The hyperbolic theater is created by think tanks like Heritage Foundation on the right or Thirdway on the other right. And they wage culture wars to get votes, but the agenda underneath that is similar, crony capitalism and usually war. So it is Note worthy when someone does something good. But the destruction is caused by the think tanks who spin these narratives. They are not institutions of enlightenment but of manipulation. As far as radical Islam, the USA has sponsored them, and armed them, and then they go out of control. ISIS ISIL and the Taliban all were harmed by the USA. Just as the USA installed the Shah and support Saudi Arabia.
